03 · Research & Education

Creation is also a way of learning.

Artistic research is central to my practice — in the studio, the classroom, and in processes of mentoring and exchange.

01

Teaching as artistic inquiry.

Since 2016, I have taught in higher education at the Royal Conservatoire The Hague, including the modules Create Your Own Work and Solo for HBO 3 & 4. I have also taught intensive artistic research modules at ArtEZ.

My teaching and mentoring focus on artistic autonomy, embodied intelligence, compositional rigor, critical reflection, and sustainable creative processes.

What is specific to your practice?

I am particularly interested in helping artists recognize what is specific to their own practice and transform intuition into clear artistic choices.

Scores establish constraints without predetermining outcomes. Improvisation becomes a real-time decision architecture in which duration, direction, proximity, weight and effort continuously redistribute attention.

“Rigour need not become rigidity. A structure can hold attention while keeping discovery possible.”
